When you go into a <b>Fast & Furious film</b>, you know exactly what you are signing up for. But at 135 minutes, the last stretch becomes an endurance test. The action is offset by family subplots. The franchise traditionally comes with Karan Johar-style messaging about loving your family. Here it just adds to the length and wears your affection thin. But props to the team for taking the climax to Samoa – I’m assuming it happened because that’s where Dwayne Johnson is originally from. At least the backdrop is scenic and the weapons are unique. Hobbs also does some deadly Samoan war cries. There isn’t anything particularly memorable about Hobbs & Shaw but I think the film does an efficient job of being mindless entertainment. It goes well with over-priced caramel popcorn.</span></span><br />

 The first half of the movie has focused on Akhil’s dances and establishing romance between Akhil and Sayesha and ends with ineffective bang. Second half has some entertainment though but it is not effective either.Some of the dialogues by Kona are good but they are not that effective overall. Senior director Vinayak who is normally good at making entertaining movies has gone completely wrong this time. His handling of the African episodes is pretty bad to say the least. All in all, Akhil is show reel movie of Akhil’s dancing skills. Other than that it offers only boredom, nothing else.</blockquote>

 On the whole, Akhil is a decent launch pad for the Akkineni scion. He is exceptional with his dances and gives an all round performance in his debut film. Interesting premise and some good songs are basic assets. But a below par narration, outdated second half and over the top graphics spoil the mood and makes this film just an average affair.
